A RESNET Accredited Home Energy Rater performs energy inspections and analysis on both new and existing residential
buildings and prepares "Rating Reports" and other documents that prove the building complies with
various programs or codes such as Energy Star, the International Energy Conservation Code, Energy
Efficient Mortgages, etc.

A BPI Building Analyst focuses on existing homes only and does a similar
inspection and audit. From that, the BA prepares a detailed work scope to improve the efficiency of the home.

A BPI Envelope Professional is trained on how to correctly install various energy saving measures. The Envelope Professional must also demonstrate an understanding of how the various retrofits interact with each other and with other building systems so that the building and its occupants are not harmed.
