Adena Energy and Environmental Consulting began in 2007. Adena intends to primarily be a training
entity for energy and environmental issues for the residential building and home improvement industry.
Its first mission was become a Training Provider for the Home Energy Rating System. Adena received
accreditation through RESNET in November of 2007.
Terry Smith is the owner and sole proprietor of the company. He has three decades of experience in the
residential energy efficiency field beginning at a Community Action Agency in the Home Weatherization Assistance
Program. He administered several efficiency programs there and then worked for the State Energy Office in Ohio for 12 years.
This period was spent monitoring several energy programs, writing procedures for efficiency programs and working
on the launch of the Home Energy Rating System in Ohio.
Terry spent four years as the Director of Cornerstone Energy Conservation Services, a HERS Provider in 6 midwestern
states Cornerstone was also a Training Provider.
Adena intends to grow to perform training for HERS raters as well as advanced building techniques for homebuilders,
energy code compliance for builders and code officials and sustainable building practices for homebuilders and remodelers.
Adena also intends to provide rater training throughout the United States.
